A 120V 6" Shallow Non-IC Air-Tight Remodel housing. Made from the highest quality steel available for recessed housing, commercial grade A welded steel. This ensures you get the longest lasting fixture possible. Comes with adjustable bar hangers that can extend up to 24" to accommodate joist spacing. An oversized J-Box allows for a maximum of (8) #12 AWG wires (4 in and 4 out). Adjustable socket plates allow for up and down movement of the medium base socket. A Non-IC rating means that this housing is not meant to make direct contact with insulation, and as such should not be installed in homes with insulation. If you have insulation you will need an IC rated housing which can be found here. As a remodel unit, this housing is meant for houses where access to the ceiling joist is not an option. If you do have access to a ceiling joist, you may consider a new work housing which can be found here.

A Non-IC rating means that this housing can not safely make contact with insulation. If you have insulation you will need an IC rated housing, such as this one. 
Air-Tight and UL Listed:
This 6" shallow remodel housing is air-tight. The air-tight feature works to save you money on your energy costs by preventing heated and conditioned air from escaping the way it normally does through non air-tight fixtures. Quality is a certainty with a UL listing for damp locations, its air-tightness, and its feed through wiring system. 
Safety and Features:
With quality and safety in mind, this 6" 120V shallow remodel housing features a built-in aluminum reflective shield to draw heat away from the UL Certified Medium Base socket. A built-in thermal protector will shut the light off in the case of improper bulb installation. Also included are adjustable socket plates that allow you to adjust the placement of the medium base socket to better hide the bulb from view, and allow for the use of different types of lamping. This housing is designed to use a traditional halogen PAR/BR bulb, but it is upgradeable to LED. Check out our high efficiency LED bulbs.
